Totally Awesome Obama Ohio Video Hits YouTube

posted by Ari Melber on 10/30/2008 @ 8:32pm

You know this whole thing could still come down to Ohio.

The presidential race was so close last time, in fact, that the margin averaged out to just nine votes per precinct across the Buckeye state. That's one of the motivating points in a new GOTV video on YouTube, which Obama's aides uploaded on Thursday night, appealing for more volunteers in the homestretch.

The feature starts with footage from Obama's recent address to a statewide meeting for organizers, and then dashes through images of Ohio scenery and hard-working volunteers. Like other Obama GOTV messages, the video closes by pressing supporters to remember that victory would be enthralling, but defeat is always possible. In other words, Don't Let Up.

  1. Four states will tell the tale...Obama winning two of them nearly assures a victory, three guarentee it.

    Ohio

    Pennsylvania

    Virginia

    Florida

S'why I think we'll know by atleast 11pm...maybe even 10pm. POSSIBLY 9pm on Tuesday night.

  2. This kind of makes me glad all the major news outlets have decided to not call the election until at least the West Coast polls close. The last thing that needs to happen is that voters think it no longer matters and sit home.

  3. No worries about staying home here on the West Coast. We have mail in voting here in Oregon, almost all of Washington has the same, and there is much of it in California.

As is, our votes will not need counting. By the time our polls close, assuming the massive Democrat trends hold in these parts, Obama will be ready to go over the top.

  5. Pre-emptive ejection: Audience members removed at McCain rally in Cedar Falls

By Dylan Boyle -- Daily Staff Writer | Tuesday, October 28, 2008 2:57 pm

Audience members escorted out of Sen. John McCain's, R-Ariz., campaign event in Cedar Falls questioned why they were asked to leave Sunday's rally even though they were not protesting.......

"I saw a couple that had been escorted out and they were confused as well, and the girl was crying, so I said ‘Why are you crying? and she said ‘I already voted for McCain, I'm a Republican, and they said we had to leave because we didn't look right,'" Elborno said. "They were handpicking these people and they had nothing to go off of, besides the way the people looked.".............

Despite repeated attempts, McCain's campaign could not be reached for comment.......

Actually the funny thing is, even if he lost all of those, according to the current electoral map it would still be 284-281 in favor of Obama. He could still lose EVERY toss up state. As long as he takes all the ones he that are leaning him or solid him. I did a breakdown giving McCain FL, VA, PA, OH, MO, MT, ID which I think is more than McCain can possibly hope for and Obama still has more of the electoral college.

There IS a "McCain victory" scenario...I've run it on Real Clear Politics polls "Create Your Own Map"...

but it involves McCain picking up ALL the Bush-2000 states...or a few Kerry-2004 states...and unless Virginia, or especially Pennsylvania, is wildly off, that can't happen.

Something tells me that "heyyou" is not part of the group that must be concerned about being taxed by Obama.

But "heyyou" ... you can benefit from the educational tuition credits that they can receive for community service.

This election has turned over rocks that haven't been turned over in awhile ... what is crawling out from under those rocks is alarming if not disgusting.

  12. I suspect we'll know Obama's won this election when the networks call North Carolina for the Democrats. I do have a question about exit polling this year, however: Is it covering the early voters? Because exit polls will almost certainly skew to the right otherwise. And that could provide cover for Diebold/McCain, if you take my meaning.

Yeah I ran the scenario too. The problem is it is unlikely unless the polling has been wildly inaccurate. Would take a certain amount of pure luck for it to happen.

Erica Jong Tells Italians Obama Loss 'Will Spark the Second American Civil War. Blood Will Run in the Streets' by Jason Horowitz | October 30, 2008

It seems that the final days of the presidential campaign have made Erica Jong and her friends more than a little anxious.

A few days ago, Jong, the author and self-described feminist, gave an interview to the Italian daily Corriere della Sera, the choicest bits of which were brought to my attention by the reliably sharp-eyed Christian Rocca, the U.S. correspondent of Il Foglio, who published excerpts on his Camillo blog. Basically, Jong says her fear that Obama might lose the election has developed into an "obsession. A paralyzing terror. An anxious fever that keeps you awake at night." She also says that her friends Jane Fonda and Naomi Wolf are extremely worried that Obama will be sabotaged by Republican dirty tricks, and that if an Obama loss indeed comes to pass, the result will be a second American Civil War.

Obama's New Attack on Those Who Don't Want Higher Taxes: ‘Selfishness'

    October 31, 2008 10:58 AM

On the stump this week, Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., has pushed back against Sen. John McCain's description of his tax policies.

"The reason that we want to do this, change our tax code, is not because I have anything against the rich," Obama said in Sarasota, Fla., yesterday. "I love rich people! I want all of you to be rich. Go for it. That's the American dream, that's the American way, that's terrific.

"The point is, though, that -- and it's not just charity, it's not just that I want to help the middle class and working people who are trying to get in the middle class -- it's that when we actually make sure that everybody's got a shot – when young people can all go to college, when everybody's got decent health care, when everybody's got a little more money at the end of the month – then guess what? Everybody starts spending that money, they decide maybe I can afford a new car, maybe I can afford a computer for my child. They can buy the products and services that businesses are selling and everybody is better off. All boats rise. That's what happened in the 1990s, that's what we need to restore. And that's what I'm gonna do as president of the United States of America.
